THE POSITION
In a manager role, you would be responsible for the completion of accounting engagements (notice to reader and review engagements) including the planning and preparation stages of year ends, providing supervision and direction to accounting technicians (who would be completing the bulk of the work), reviewing the year end files and preparing corporate tax returns. You may be required to participate in the processing of T1 personal returns although this is not the main emphasis. You would enjoy client contact when required to gather information as well as providing constructive feedback to your team of technicians for efficient and accurate work. You would work closely with the partner in charge of the file to ensure year ends are completed efficiently, accurately and within budget guidelines. We utilize leading edge technology in our paperless environment. Excellent client service is a priority. This is a full-time position (35 hours per week). THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are looking for an individual who:
- Is a CPA
- Is licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to perform Review Engagements (licensed/ability to perform audits would be an asset)
- Has strong accounting skills with an excellent understanding of GAAP
- Has experience and proficiency relating to corporate tax preparation
- Has experience and proficiency relating to personal tax preparation
- Exposure to farming operations is an asset
- Has strong supervisory and training skills
- Is driven to continue to learn and improve their skills
- Is friendly, outgoing and wants to be an active participant in our youthful team environment
- Has incredibly strong work ethic with particular attention to project completion deadlines and a high quality of work
- Enjoys dealing with clients in a friendly and respectful manner
- Is neat, organized, attentive to detail and can prioritize quickly
- Has excellent computer processing skills with a genuine interest to working in a paperless and highly technological office
- Has exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Has a sense of humor and wants to contribute to a fun work environment
- Is motivated by a job well done
- Has a growth mindset with ambition for advancement within the firm
